The lunar eclipse on December 31 shows us a picture of both the end of the month and the year. This chart indicates where you have been heading all year, so let’s take a look at the eclipse to measure your progress. The lunar eclipse, coming as it does at the very end of the calendar year, provides you a closing snapshot of astrological energies. At the same time, it acts as a stepping-off place for next year, because it represents the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. More precisely, the lunar eclipse provides a moment of awareness of what you have found and what you may have missed. Aside from the Sun opposing the Moon, the eclipse chart’s closest aspects are Mercury to Mars and Mars to Saturn. Mars and Saturn are two indicators of career and business. Saturn reveals the career that best satisfies each of us, showing us both where we start out and where we desire to finish in our careers. Mars shows how we can get from start to finish in terms of energy. The tension between these two planets at the time of the eclipse reflects what many people have felt this year. Our best efforts have not borne fruit as we desired or planned.

2010! The first decade is finishing and Hope springs eternal as this New Year brings a whole new level of energy and awareness in Your evolutionary process. We are ALL confronting major forks-in-the-road in areas of our lives where these are transiting triggering shifts. This period marks a very important point in getting clear about the magnetics and specific tasks to be done and training to be learned connected to forks-in-the-road and forms of obsessive or compulsive behaviors in self or others. As the planets continue their dance through the signs along with the Moon it triggers energies of change in our lives. Since the Moon nurtures and gives form to whatever it touches, found wisdom amidst the passages by understanding Nature's cycles and continuing your journey. Among other things they believed that there were specific doorways or gates leading in and out of "heaven". These portals were believed to be located at the points where the ecliptic (the pathway followed by the Sun in its annual progression along the zodiac) crosses over the Milky Way. Significantly the Sun now sits at one or other of these gateways at the solstices. By a process of analogy: "As Above, so Below", this indicates that it is now that these "stargates" are opening. If you are a beginner (anyone for that matter) focusing on the Moon and it's movement through the signs, will give you a feel for each sign and how the energies react with yourself and others.

The planets Mercury and Mars are retrograde with Saturn slowing up for it's retrograde period beginning 1/13. This double retrograde Mercury-Mars reminds us that the namesake for January = Roman God Janus. Janus was famous for his ability to look in two directions at once, backward into the past and ability to look forward into the future. These planet retrogrades suggest that if the lessons of the past are heeded, the right course of action will be clear in the year ahead and history will not have to repeat itself.
The Mercury Retrograde is continuing - here is a quote from Robert Wilkinson: "Mercury is a herald, a coordinator of information and insights so we can weave our life affairs into meaningful movement toward a variety of purposes. It brings us messages, ideas, and perceptual input so we can figure things out. It races ahead of the Sun when direct in motion, then slows down to bring that information to the Sun, symbolic of our life, when it's Retrograde. Mercury Retrograde is good for reworking, rehearsing, rethinking, researching, or finding a different approach to whatever is not well understood. It's also great for busting lies and misconceptions, though if you have the misfortune of dealing with someone operating from a delusion, they still may not get what's right in front of their face. In that case, let them go and apply your energies to more worthy relationships and endeavors. In Capricorn we claim personal power and/or authority in a public or group situation preparing for a greater collective contribution in Aquarius. 

This Rx period will give us a chance to research, re-think, rehearse and get a new look at "apparent defeats that spell real spiritual victory" of the past year. Also, this Mercury RX period will give us a front-end view helping us prepare for what's coming forth the next few years as Pluto moves through Capricorn and triggers the Mercury retrograde span. Since Saturn rules the sign of this Mercury RX, we'll also be given information about the Saturn in Libra ideal we've begun to live since late October. According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the keyword is EXPEDIENCY. He states this is a degree of an "uncompromising loyalty to the long range ends in view," "a self-disciplined grace of spirit," and overcoming opponents by finding shared values. We are told that this offers us "a genius for learning from experience and transforming setback into accomplishment." So we enter a time of reviewing our loyalty to our long range views and how to accomplish them. We can get a new picture or information about group work and how we can contribute to a greater ideal with others. It marks a time of filling in any gaps in our resolve, perseverance, and understanding what is personally relevant to us within our larger cultural field.

When Mercury goes direct, it is at a platform from which to bring the lessons it has reflected on during the Rx period forward into the future life-in-the-making. The lens of Retrograde exploration was the Stationary Retrograde degree. The degree of the Inferior Conjunction shows how life and mind must come together in a different, perhaps overlooked, but definitely useful view of what must be known. The entire Retrograde function is inward-turned, so we can get insights into what must be known to understand some thing from a more holistic point of view. We can also note how our mind, ideas, or worldview are affected by our subconsciousness, or our receptivity to others' subconsciousness.

Mercury Retrograde periods reveal their own unique rhythm in offering us a new look at things. Every period in some way echoes the messages of prior Retrograde periods, and affects those to come. That's why it's important to observe what has been revealed during other periods in the recent months and years past, so that you can see how Mercury, or Hermes, the "Guide of Souls," is leading you to your authentic self. Regardless of appearances, or how difficult or easy, Mercury Retrograde periods show us the path to our Soul. A very good source for in-depth understanding of this important part of our lives is my book, "A New Look At Mercury Retrograde," now out of print but still available used via several Internet sources."

The Mars Retrograde is continuing - here is a quote from Robert Wilkinson that pinpoints the energies: "Mars is momentum, so expect the next few weeks to operate at a slower pace, where energy must be redirected before it can resume whatever has begun the past few weeks. Mars retrograde slows down the "fight or flight" principle, and turns the energies inward. Thus it can be a slowing of warlike impulses, or a time when they turn inward. It can bring a return of old grudges, mistrust, antagonisms, and other associated behaviors. There are energetic struggles as well as outward challenges, so a great time to check out what hinders your impulses and self expression for good or ill. It's definitely a time to slow things down, be more thoughtful and deliberate in our self expression, and review recent decisions and developments already affecting our lives and habits.
The strengths of someone with Mars retrograde is the ability to read other people's energies, and show them how they should redirect energies to accomplish what they want. It can show the ability to cut to the chase in terms of what inner energies are bogging down projects, and help things get resolved with patience and decreasing impulsiveness and aggressiveness. It gives the power to divert or shift antagonistic energies into new directions that are more profitable, or offer other ways to do things so they can be accomplished with less aggravation or hassle.

The charge seems to be around creative efforts that haven't been taken care of, or old blunted enthusiasms needing some airing. For some, it's disappointment that they can't seem to get enthused by much, or that play is slowed while work goes on. It's probably a good time to recharge energies by going deeper into communing with the source of life and energy on Earth. It also seems that there is a lot of heart issues to be addressed, whether through an action that's been delayed up to now, or a "gathering of one's medicine" in order to build strength for what will begin to stir toward late February and move forward in March. 

With Mars retrograde, there is often either an over-reaction to things or delayed actions that could help solve a problem that is creating difficulty. Be alert to struggles coming up as a result of projecting old hassles onto present relationships, and take a new look at whatever aggravates you that you've been carrying from the past. Definitely show patience and willingness to be creative or expressive in some area that can recharge your batteries, and help you reconnect with life's enthusiasms. If there are resentments, hostility, or grudges present, remember it has its roots in the past. It might not have much to do with the person or situation you're confronting, but if it does, then it's an overdue account that must be dealt with. 

Try to be mature in your responses, and not react simply because your needs haven't been fulfilled as you want, or aggressive in demanding that someone take care of business that may not be theirs at all. Mars in Leo tries to put its best self forward, and is bold in its theatricality. Mars in Leo has charm, pizzazz, flair, and style. This position helps ego dramatize itself in order to project its power in a creative, playful way.

Mars semisquare Saturn will last into January 2010, so get used to the constant inner tensions. Do not get distracted by unnecessary hassles or obligations, keep stabilizing new patterns and ideals, and get connected to the source of light, power, and wisdom however you define these."

Solar Eclipse 25 Capricorn @ 2:11 am (Time to make a new Lunar Manifestation List) An extra powerful N.M. signaling major endings and beginnings, reflect on the last time this occurred Jan. 15, 1991 - What was important in your life than? Where are you ready to go to the next level? (look at where Capricorn is in your natal chart for clues) Capricorn teaches us to abide by the realities of the material plane, the physical constraints of time and space, cause and effect. This Sun-Earth-Moon alignment is quite stressful so it would not be a good time for life-altering events (marriage, job interview etc). This Moon is tied to the Mercury - Pluto conjunction time of deep thinking for a few days before during and after.

1/31 Full Moon (F.M.) 10 Leo @ 1:18 am (Time to burn your Lunar Manifestation List) This F. M. pulls you towards returning your soul's intention - what we can do in critical times on this Earth. The aspects at this time are challenging each one of us as to how we will fulfill our self-expression in this challenging era. You are being compelled to live from your essence rather than from your programmed personality = Lightworkers doing their light-works. How do we know we are doing what we are supposed to be doing? When you are existing in a degree of joy without strife or struggle. If life seems to be an effort and a fight than you maybe off track. If you do not have a significant number of synchronicities (from root words: 'syn' = with and 'chronos' = time) occurring will also tell if you have lost your way or are off track.

Also: Saturn square Pluto (11/30/09 and 8/21/10) Now we are in the third quarter of this dance with these two energies: 38 year cycle began 1982, 1st quarter 1993, midway point 2001-02. The other major factor during this time span is that from November 2009 through April 2010 Saturn in Libra will be squaring Pluto in Capricorn, setting up Cardinal T-squares when planets move through early Aries throughout March 2010, throwing the void into early Cancer. 

By late February 2010 Saturn and Uranus are again within close orb of opposition, but still out of sign. This continues through March. When the Moon squares Saturn and Uranus it will function as a T-square even though out of sign due to the tightness of orb. These will have an entirely different effect than the T-squares created by the Saturn opposition Uranus. By how we deal with the dynamic initiating Aries energies of March 2010, we'll learn how to manage the even more potent squares to come over 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. These are kicked off in a big way through Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Aries opposed Mars conjunct Saturn in Libra with all square Pluto in July-August 2010.

A hint: pay close attention in late June, early July, early and late August, and early September 2009 for signals on skills we'll need to deal with what's coming Summer 2010. And, we'll all get another look at these skills in late May and again late June 2010, just before the fireworks of July and August that year.

Back to Saturn's dance with Uranus in 2010. In April 2010 Saturn retrogrades back into Virgo and stays in very tight opposition to Uranus at 29-30 Pisces through the end of May. During this 7 week period, we will see the revisiting for the last time of a Gemini T-square to the Virgo-Pisces opposition, confirming what we're learning now in the Summer of 2009. In mid-May 2010, Venus again returns to late Gemini and makes a very tight Mutable T-square.

This will be a time of leaving old lesser standards behind, finding an abundance perfectly suited to what we need, blending beauty and functionality, and getting a blessing that finalizes our "escape from a narrow destiny" set into motion by the Eclipses the past few years. Astrology is a study of planets, transitions, combinations and beliefs relating to these celestial bodies. We have only to turn to the authority of the Encyclopedia Brittanica, which defines astrology as a science: "The ancient art or science of divining the fate and future of human beings from indications given by the position of stars and other heavenly bodies."

The Astrological Association of North Florida (AANF) was first formed on December 27, 1973 by a dedicated group of astrologers who decided to pool their energies in the study of astrology. At the AANF meetings they address the various aspects of astrology and can highlight current events. The organization brings in guest speakers, takes advantage of the knowledge within the group to present the monthly programs. Everyone is welcome to come and attend. AANF welcomes all who know various systems of astrology, those who know little or nothing about the science of astrology to come and share in these gatherings.

The Astrological Association of North Florida is a member of the American Federation of Astrologers, a National organization which looks to research, using all of the tools of statistics, philosophy, and eons of experiences to lead the way into a better and more productive service to and for people. The American Federation of Astrologers, Inc. was established and incorporated to encourage the study of all scientific methods of astrology, both current and future, leading to the spread of astrological knowledge and its understanding throughout the world. AFA's mission is education, research, cooperation, progress.

The challenges facing people today are greater than at any other time in the history of mankind, and available solutions are more difficult to obtain. Astrologers recognize these conditions and want to participate in helping others to successfully meet the challenges of life.

In the year 2010, it will become harder to hide truth. The walls that separate fact from fiction will weaken under the force of humanity’s emerging light consciousness. Transparency will become the watchword of the times.

What does this mean? How is this relevant for you, the divine changemaker? On a global level, it means that many of the disparities and dysfunctions of your world will come out of the shadows of ignorance. As this happens, long-standing and out-of-balance situations will be seen and recognized as detriments, even more than at present. Likewise, universal truths about energy and the inter-connectedness of all life will emerge into the mainstream with increasing speed. There will be a growing sense of awareness across the planet that many things aren’t really as they have appeared to be for a long time.

Until fairly recently, mainstream thinking has been in a box wrapped tightly with string. The year 2010 heralds a further loosening of the string around that box. Things outside conventional thinking that you have long believed to be true will receive noteworthy mention from unlikely sources. Don’t be surprised when you hear that some high-level public figures believe there is probably life on other planets. Be prepared for announcements of cures for devastating diseases. Some diseases may even be reclassified as researchers more fully understand how the body’s interconnected energy systems work.

The planet’s history will come under a microscope too as policy makers and scientists grapple with solutions to the world’s growing list of concerns. People who were seemingly unawake before will begin to connect with a desire for a more heart-centered life. Underneath that desire will be a remembrance that there is a spiritual force that is at the core of each being. This is the divine spark that is within all life. The early stages of this remembering typically manifest as a general discontent. When the dissatisfaction grows sufficiently, people begin to question more deeply and to ask for different things than they are used to receiving.

Understanding Others
This is being mentioned here so you will more easily connect the dots when your friends, colleagues and loved ones begin to awaken and act differently than before. You will of course delight in their waking up, yet their actions may seem bewildering.

Sometimes their questioning will be cloaked in nonsensical debating or complaining. It may appear that some of their irritation is because of something you did. Oftentimes, what you did or did not do is only a catalyst for their discontent.

So it’s not personal. If you can remember this when you are thrown into the center of the other person’s wakeup chaos, it will be easier for you to find your center.

During the year 2010, you will have ample opportunities to hone your abilities of discernment. As the prevalence of transparency increases, you will have much to ponder and examine. Some of the truthful information coming to light will be packaged side-by-side with lies. This means that part of what you are shown is true, but the overall picture may be misleading. Some who pretend to be transparent will present a mixture of true and not-so-true information. To be sure though, the truth will come out on all things in time. The veils of deception can no longer be held in place as the planet moves into a higher consciousness. The hidden—whether it involves the good, the bad or the ugly—will naturally become increasingly transparent. 

You as Divine Changemaker
Remember that you as a divine changemaker have come to Earth now to be at the forefront of changes involved with shifting your planet into light. To be a divine changemaker means that you are moving into conscious creation and taking back your power. You are acknowledging spirit and recognizing that you come from spirit, and you are finding ways to return to the heart-centered beingness that is your true nature. You are seeing that most people have forgotten their divine heritage. You are observing how people have learned to be disconnected from each other and from the divine force that is meant to be the food of life. Because of your consciousness and earlier experiences, you are among those taking the lead during these times of planetary crisis. Keep in mind that being farther along on the path doesn’t make you special or better than anyone else. However, your light and the ways that you express it can be of tremendous help to others who are in the earlier stages of waking up. Your light can also be a pivotal and beneficial force to other lightworkers traveling shoulder-to-shoulder with you.

Your comrades need to know that they aren’t alone. You give each other the reminder that this is a group effort. You can help one another to move more easily through the chaos, and to stay sane; you can be the rock of stability for each other.

The people in your energetic sphere of influence are facing similar challenges you face—great uncertainty, sweeping changes, economic reconfiguration, ongoing chaos and strained relationships. They face these things regardless of whether they are as prepared as you are. In this lifetime and even in past lives, you’ve done homework and preparation that some other people are only now initiating. Your advanced preparation will help you greatly in 2010.

One factor that’s helping you even now, more than you likely recognize, is that you have been introduced to many useful tools for coping; you have learned some basics about how to respond to life with intuitively-guided reason. You have discovered that the key to peace is to learn how to create peace within yourself. You know without a doubt that your relationship with spirit is the glue that puts all the disconnected pieces together.

Now is the time to put all of what you have learned into action. It’s important that you act on what you know. Do this even when you feel that you don’t have all the answers.

Start from where you are and more answers will come to you as needed. Trust that your light-infused actions will make a difference in what happens next—in your own soul’s progression and in the future of your beloved Earth.

Remember that humans have a distorted idea of time. It may appear as though no one was preparing for the great shift of life on Earth. To the untrained eye, the current turmoil may feel like a recent phenomenon. This point of view runs counter to the way your universe really works. As you will understand more and more, it’s really about cycles that are continually in motion. The cycle of your Earth’s current waking-up process has been gaining momentum for many years. However, now there is a magnification process involved. This means a much faster parting of the veils that have long kept people in ignorance. It means increasing amounts of transparency involving all aspects of your society. This is significant.

Transparency and the Great Shift
The trend toward greater trans-parency has nothing to do with politics, religion or the desires of special interest groups. Likewise, it has nothing to do with what’s right or wrong. The movement into greater clarity goes hand-in-hand with the great shift of the ages. This shift involves a thinning of the veils that have long kept the masses in the dark.

Many of the world’s problems have been building for a very long time, yet only recently has this begun to become apparent to the general populace. Likewise, the life journey for people incarnated on Earth today is a continuum—a cycle of energy put in motion over lifetimes.

There is a tendency each time, including this key lifetime, to forget what happened before and to have amnesia about one’s gifts and character flaws. As remembering is triggered, the individual response will depend upon how evolved the person is this lifetime and his or her state of consciousness when being confronted with a reality-shifting truth. 

The demystifying of life, on the grand scale it is occurring now, is unprece-dented. In no other lifetime have you been faced with reexamining so much about what’s real, what to pay attention to and how you fit in. Even if you are a seasoned lightworker, you can become anxious when discovering that your early life training did little to prepare you for the level of unfolding now under way. Go gently with yourself and with your human comrades who also are finding their way out of the dark. It will be easier on some days, harder on others.

The Blinders are Gone
In many cases, it will be a bit like the racehorse after the race—its blinders have been removed before being turned loose into open pasture. Sometimes the horse will respond wildly, running as fast as it can in the direction of freedom, yet having no specific destination in mind. At other times, the horse will move smoothly and effortlessly into the open field, feeling confident and in good spirits. On occasion, the horse will stand in place, immobilized and in a daze. If feeling sufficiently aggravated, the horse may rear up and kick its handler out of defiance. If it is let loose with other horses, its herding instinct may come into play. The horse will then follow the lead of the dominant mare.

People often respond similarly to the racehorse when faced with the need to make radical changes and answer questions without external guidance. There’s a learned tendency to bolt away from restrictions, even if there’s no clarity about where one is bolting. There could be more clarity if people had more experience and confidence accessing their heart’s inner wisdom. With no intelligent plan, the person who bolts ahead is really no better off than before. Similarly, people often let fear become an mobilizing force rather than the catalyst to do great things. Pack mentality is a serious obstacle as well. This is especially true in times when people are feeling isolated and crave connection with others.

Questions to Ask in 2010
To avoid being like the wild racehorse in 2010, here is a list of ten questions you can ask on a regular basis. Come back to these questions whenever you desire more clarity, more focus, more balance and more inner confidence about your path of light.

1. As I consider an issue or situation, am I looking at both the relevant details and the big picture?
2. What is the key missing piece of information that will allow me to have clarity about an issue or situation?
3. What is in my way of seeing what I need to see?
4. How am I sabotaging my own progress?
5. In what ways am I giving away my power?
6. What is the one change I could make in my life to radically shift out of past, rigid conditioning and into a more enlightened state?
7. As I consider the outer world news and prophecies about 2012, which things are really true, which are assumptions, which make me the most fearful and which cause me to feel the most hope?
8. How comfortable do I feel becoming more transparent with myself, my loved ones and my outer world?
9. What am I afraid to know about myself?
10. Have I remembered today that I am a divine changemaker, contemplating what that means in action?

You really have one choice to make when it comes to change. Are you embracing your role as divine changemaker or are you allowing yourself to be a victim of change?

Even though we can give the alignment of energy now, it will not be until 2014 that the new economy will emerge and a period of true calm and solvency will result in full stability. You have the next five years to use these peak and decline cycles to your advantage. This series of six classes is organized to encourage development of mediumistic abilities and awareness of (spiritual) energy. You will learn  the differences between energy readings and mediumistic readings, and how to use your awareness to enhance your mediumship. 

Classes include meditation, lecture, and practice using various methods that Katie Bay studied in England at the Arthur Findlay College.

We will be studing why reflexology works, techniques and which natural living oils work with this technique of healing. Foot Reflexology is very old, and was practiced as an ancient form of pressure treatment that uses the application of focused pressure on known "reflex" points that are found in the foot. There is, substantial information that suggests Foot Reflexology and other forms of pressure point therapy may have been used as are back as five thousand years.
